Game overview

Play Sudoku free online with four difficulty levels, pencil notes, hints, and mistake checking. Every puzzle is freshly generated and has exactly one solution—works on phone, tablet, and PC with no download.

Sudoku is a logic puzzle played on a 9×9 grid divided into nine 3×3 boxes. Some cells start filled in; your job is to complete the grid so that every row, every column, and every box contains the digits 1 to 9 exactly once. No maths is involved—only careful reasoning about where each number can and cannot go.

FunWebGame generates a new puzzle every time you start a game and checks that it has a single unique solution, so you never need to guess. Choose Easy if you are learning, Medium or Hard for a daily brain workout, or Expert when you want a puzzle with very few given numbers.

The board is designed for touch as well as keyboard. Tap a cell and then a number, switch on Notes to pencil in candidates, and use Hint when you are truly stuck. Wrong entries are highlighted in red and counted, and your game is saved automatically so you can come back to an unfinished puzzle later.

How to play Sudoku

  • Tap an empty cell (or move with the arrow keys) to select it.
  • Tap a number on the pad or press 1–9 to fill the cell.
  • Each row, column, and 3×3 box must contain 1–9 with no repeats.
  • Turn on Notes (or press N) to pencil in possible candidates.
  • Fill every cell correctly to solve the puzzle.

Tips & strategies

  • Start with the numbers that already appear most often on the board.
  • Scan each 3×3 box for the only cell where a given number can fit.
  • Use notes for cells with two or three candidates and update them as you go.
  • If two cells in a unit share the same two candidates, remove those numbers from the rest of that unit.
  • Hints cost points—try one more scan of rows and columns before using one.

FAQ

How many Sudoku puzzles are there?

Puzzles are generated on demand, so you get a new grid every game. Each one is checked to have exactly one solution.

What is the difference between the difficulty levels?

Easy starts with about 40 given numbers, Medium about 33, Hard about 28, and Expert as few as 24, which requires more advanced techniques.

Can I write notes in the cells?

Yes. Turn on Notes to add small candidate numbers; placing a correct number clears matching notes in the same row, column, and box.

Will I lose my puzzle if I close the page?

No. Your current puzzle, notes, mistakes, and timer are saved in your browser on this device.
